Ed's Note

God is in your right brain...

... and in your left brain. Heavenletter readers will know that The Beloved is in everything. Both the left brain and right brain are necessary in The Creation, both aspects of the One Divine.

There is an old saying: "It takes a man to build a house and woman to make a home."

Jill Bolte Taylor, a Harvard-trained brain scientist (see her TED Talk here) speaks of how her stroke, which disabled left brain function, helped her see the interconnected reality of life. She struggled to see the boundary between her own body and the bathroom wall.

Ian McGilchrist, in The Master and His Emissary, shows how the left brain re-presents, abstracts, categorizes, breaks into parts so it can manipulate and control. Whereas the right brain sees the relational field, the living whole and the embodied.

The right and left brain

We could refer to the left brain as the masculine and the right brain as the feminine. I'll weave this thread into two topics both Gloria and I love. Godwriting™ and Community.

In Godwriting, we have the practice. Getting the pencil and paper. Sitting down. Making time and space to write. Keeping the discipline of a regular practice. All left brain, The Emissary.

It sets the stage for The Master, the right brain, which listens for the emanation of the voice within. It feels the message pre-intellectually. It listens to the still small voice within. Meaning is felt in the way that visiting Delhi is not the same as watching a video of Delhi. One is a whole being, full body experience, the other is a low resolution abstraction. So the right brain sends the meaning to the left brain, and it delightfully transcodes meaning into language. And you get words that in many ways change the trajectory of your life.

This is Godwriting. It is life-changing. And it comes from within you.

"You can't give attention to whether your Godwriting is good or not. As soon as you judge your Godwriting, it's not Godwriting. Godwriting flows. You can't edit at the time of Godwriting. Editing is about left brain. Godwriting is right brain."
— Gloria Wendroff (Creator of Godwriting™), Nov 27, 2006

Now take community. I use the word community specifically in the context of consensual, diverse humans, each with their unique gift, relating with each other, while working towards a shared vision. Too much left brain and you get good structure, lots of progress, technical excellence, but the coffee doesn't satisfy. It's technically great, but there's something flat about it. Bring in the right brain, and you have depth and nuance, relational dynamics that cannot easily be articulated, and an overall sense of awe, curiosity and joyfulness. Perhaps the very same coffee becomes an experience worth remembering.

In community the right brain tends to what I call the we space. It's the space between worlds. Every human is a world. The space between us, the worlds, the we space, is often left out. We often think in terms of me and you. When we think of we, it's mostly an intellectual abstraction. A third category. But you cannot categorize the space between, which is emergent and fecund with possibility, holding more parameters of potential than any of the most advanced AI models. And this is community. It is human potential amplified, and it touches the stars. You, as an individual, have that potential. When you gather in community, your potential reaches the stars.

Are we who share the common ground of Heavenletters™ and Godwriting a community? Perhaps. We have potential. However, we require more commitment and interaction. I'm tending to this via the online Godwriting Workshop and a monthly live Heavenletters study group. Meanwhile, let me encourage all of us to reach out to the people around us. Give the neighbor some cookies and a Heavenletter. This will help end the epidemic of loneliness troubling our world today.

Our condolences go out to any of our community who lost loved ones in the Nepalese disaster.

"Look into another's eyes and find Me there. When you look into someone's eyes, their eyes will meet yours. Perhaps they will see Me in your eyes. Such joy is too much for anyone to miss merely because of the habit of dashing through life."

The translators are coming back

Everyone here volunteers their time from the generosity of their hearts. Translators were the largest part of our team. They ensured that the nuances of Heavenletters™ were correctly translated into one of the 15 languages. Recently Luus started translating again. She asked for a way to find which English Heavenletters need translating into Dutch. Fortunately with the data migration work I'm doing, creating batches of 100 Heavenletters was easy. After I sent Luus the list of the next 100 Heavenletters to translate, Luus replied: "This is exactly what I need, San. I knew that I had started translating the earlier Heavenletters but not how far I had come. I will start with these and let you know if and when I need more. Thanks a lot!"

And then I saw Dutch Heavenletters start to arrive, one after the other. Luus uses a combination of ChatGPT and Google Translate and then edits each translation. This is a practical and effective workflow that I can endorse. Thank you Luus. There are currently 26 translations since Aug 25th. Luus, you are committed.

Berit, a long-time Italian translator, wrote: "I wanted to ask if translation into italian is needed. I know that Paula did translate infinite Heavenletters, but I don't have the big picture and I was wondering what the situation is. Are there currently friends who are doing also translations in other languages?" Yes, Berit translations are certainly needed! Anyone who wants to translate, please get in touch with me to join the emerging translation team. We have an easy workflow. I send you a list. You translate and email to team@heavenletters.org. Easy peasy. Human review is a must because AI and Google Translate are not able to do a complete job. When we reach 5 translators, we could have a monthly Zoom meeting to share notes.

Before I clicked send on Heaven News, Berit wrote: "Dear San, Yes pls send me a list of HL that miss italian translation. I would love that very much. Many thanks and much love Berit"

Woot woot!

Nancy Ciuselli appeared! Nancy helped Gloria from 2009 and beyond with important admin work. Nancy wrote: "I was a volunteer for Heavenletters starting in, I believe, 2010. I continued volunteering for several years. Maybe in the future I will be able to help in some way, and if so, what would that look like from your end." Then Nancy subscribed to the Daily Heavenletter paid tier!

Subscriptions have gone up

We currently offer a free email tier where a Heavenletter is sent out every so often. We needed 10 subscribers to cover the cost of the free tier, a Heavenletter emailed every so often to about 12,000 subscribers. We now have 12 paid subscribers who receive Heavenletters™ daily. We need 20 subscribers to do a weekly send out and 50 to bring back the daily Heavenletter. Here's why I think this is worth doing:

"After coming home from a night of drinking with friends as an 18-year-old, I stumbled upon Heavenletters randomly. I'm not sure what I was searching for online — maybe I'd tried to search 'message from God' or something — and it came up. I've been reading it ever since. I'm turning 24 in a month and a half."
— Nitin, one of our newest subscribers
"Many times I was asking myself, 'Is it worth living?' And the answer was 'Yes' precisely because of Heavenletters. To me it is a tangible sign that God is coaching and training me. He is continuously present in my life through those love letters. Without Him I would be long gone."
— Micheal

A Cosmic Gift on Your Anniversary

Here's something new, and I'm glad to be able to tell you about it.

Years ago we built something called the Cosmic Heavenletter Generator. You press a button, and it draws one letter, at random, just for you. People have told me for years that the letter that comes up is never an accident. It lands.

Now we've tied it to your anniversary. On the day you joined Heavenletters™, each year, you'll receive a Cosmic Heavenletter. A random letter, drawn fresh, with a small note marking the day. It arrives as a quiet gift on the anniversary of the day you discovered Heavenletters.

Here's what Normand, a long-time supporter of Heavenletters in Australia wrote:

"This Heavenletter made me realize that if I don't achieve it on time (the promotional campaign for my book), I won't have achieved it at all. The real healing process is to let go of this sense of urgency. Everything comes on its own time. And we must ask ourselves that too as well."
— Normand, Australia

All this gave birth to the daily Cosmic Heavenletter. You can now support Heavenletters by subscribing to the Daily Cosmic Heavenletter. One random Heavenletter daily. No repeats. Subscribe.

Heaven's CRM

Heavenletters™ is a non-profit run by a team of one. That's me. Every day brings the same quiet flood: emails in, replies out, translations landing, lists to tend, records to keep. Admin is the quiet thief of this work. I work on Heavenletters in my spare time, so every optimization that saves me time, helps.

So I built Heaven's CRM (Customer Relations Manager). It watches the inbox with me, helps me draft replies in the reader's own language, keeps the story of every contact and every donation/subscription/purchase, and surfaces what needs my eyes. The letters to you still come from me, but the sorting and the remembering are no longer mine alone.

It saves me hours of admin work every week. Those hours come back as time to reply to you directly and to tend to the ongoing work of rebooting Heavenletters: the new website, the translations, the community waking up.

If you work in a non-profit or business that needs something like this, please get in touch with me.

Website Updates

The new website, in progress

There's still around 120 hours of work left on the new website. I use GitHub and a backlog of issues to manage the build, roughly 2 to 3 months of work. I intend to get the new website up by the end of November. Meanwhile we're losing visitors because our current 20-year-old website is not mobile friendly. So I've decided on an urgent interim solution. Mobile friendly home, Heavenletter page, Heavenletter listing, reader comments, FAQs and subscription pages built on the legacy database. Please have a look and tell me what you think: https://heavenletters.org

New pages are going up steadily:

- Home
- About Heavenletters
- Frequently Asked Questions
- Contribute
- Daily Heavenletter subscription
- Cosmic Heavenletter subscription
- Reader comments
- The Heavenletters themselves

I also want to tell you about the server update and future direction of the website. Last night I migrated the website to a new server in Singapore so that we could better serve a planetary scale readership. Part of that migration was limiting the number of bots that are scraping our content. I've done that, and I've also limited access to the AI bots. In future Heavenletters will be available only to humans as a priority and limited access to bots, because we actually want AI to have positive life affirming content injected into its corpus.

Celebrating 21 Years as a volunteer

The first email I sent to Gloria was on 19 April 2005. I was living in Argentina at the time where I founded a software development studio with a small team of developers. Gloria's reply was: OH! BEAUTIFUL SOUL!

I rediscovered the email after creating a custom application to search my entire archived email correspondence with Gloria. There is gold in our correspondence. The emails are rich with Godwriting™ Workshop material (like the quote above) and Gloria's vision for Heavenletters™. The new application allows me to search through +30,000 emails between Gloria and me using semantic search. This means I can search for meaning rather than keywords. So, "Show me all emails where Gloria gives me tips on Godwriting" gives a huge list of targeted emails. Here's an email where I was articulating to Gloria why I'm fully onboard with Heavenletters:

"Gloria, my sense is that we have a shared understanding: that reading Heavenletters and Godwriting uplifts our awareness, our sense of closeness to God, and as a result we change, and so does the world. I call this cultural co-evolution."

When I expressed interest in facilitating a Godwriting Workshop, Gloria gave me her blessings way back in 2006 and she started sharing her understanding with me on how Godwriting happens. What a trip down memory lane! I'm going through emails between myself and Kirt, Adrachin and Gloria from way back when Heavenletters was powered by Yahoo list server.

It's through this search app that I found an email where I suggested creating an online Godwriting Workshop and I immediately purchased godwriting.org for Gloria! That was 2006. Holy moly. 20 years later and I'm finally working on it again. Gloria said God consistently said Heavenletters will have millions of subscribers. I'm glad to be working towards that vision by building the tech foundation to serve them. What a privilege.

Temporary Fiscal sponsor & new payment options

In the last Heaven News I mentioned registering Heavenletters as a legal entity so that we could be tax compliant and receive payments directly to The International Godwriting™ Society of Heavenletters™. That was putting the cart before the horse. Setting up the legal entity will happen when we are resourced to do that. Meanwhile I will use my company (Khanyi Media) as the fiscal sponsor. This opens up multi-currency payments via card, IBAN, SWIFT, ACH etc. which means we don't have to rely on just PayPal as a payment processor. This makes it easier for non-PayPal readers to purchase subscriptions and e-books, register for the upcoming Godwriting Workshop and to be contribute money.

People are appreciating the comeback

We also heard back from an old friend of Gloria's and of Heavenletters™, Dr Bernie Siegul, with his great sense of humor:

"Thanks. I just complained to God a short time ago today."
— Dr Bernie Siegul
"I had often wondered what happened to the Heaven Letters. God Bless you for bringing back this much needed blessing back to earth. I agree that children should be reading them, God only knows they need it more today than ever before. I pray that their message will cover the earth."
— Anna Fern
"What a surprise, a Heavenletter? That's a long time ago. You can see the date — 28 July 2019. Looking back, Corona was on its way. Now it feels like a gift, a sign of God, in this heavy time."
— Adrie de Groot
"How lovely. Thank you, faithful steward. In oneness and wholeness we continue our journey to unknown shores, with faith and trust all the way."
— Heidi
"Thank you for coming back into my awareness. I missed you."
— a Heavenletters reader

Supporting Heaven

I'm phasing out the word donation. It never landed for me. I finally know why. A donation is charity: one hand giving to another. I'm not asking for charity. You're here, reading these letters. You've already experienced what they do. That makes you part of this work. I'm inviting you to take your place in it, to commit to the vision you've already felt. That's a partnership, not a handout.

"Heavenletters isn't in existence to make money. That is not its purpose. Money is also from God. There's another aspect to money. It is a commitment, and it is also energy. Thank you for valuing Heavenletters and finding a way to take responsibility for what you deeply desire."
— Gloria Wendroff

Right now this work runs at a monthly deficit of around $700, and that's before my roughly 50 hours a month of professional engineering time. I gladly give the time. What I can't cover alone is the $700. So here's where you come in and where I need your help. Firstly with the monthly deficit, and secondly with costs to register the non-profit. Whatever you can do to catalyse this is welcome. We're at 12 paid subscribers. At 20, Heavenletters™ goes out weekly to everyone on the free list. At 50, the daily letter comes back for all of you. If these letters have meant something to you, be one of the people who makes that happen.

Subscribe to the Daily Heavenletter: the daily letter, every day, and a step toward the weekly send for everyone.

Make a one-time offering: every offering goes to translations, sendouts, and the new website. Your offering carries the next letter to the person who wakes up needing exactly this.

Forward this email: three seconds, costs nothing, and it's how someone who needs it finds us. If this was forwarded to you, subscribe here.

Closing Heavenletter™ Quote

"There is One Heart that beats, and that is known as Rapture."

Closing

"I was missing Heavenletters so much — what a relief they are back. It is only number 6 that reached me and I am grateful this happened today. What a blessing confirmation!"
